Ok hope this will make it a bit easier to understand.

Homebrew means "Non-Sony" applications running on your PSP, anything from emulators to ISO loaders.

1.50, 1.51, 1.52 or 2.00
If you have a PSP that is running 1.50, 1.51, 1.52 or 2.00 then you have the ability to run Homebrew , either by upgrading to 2.00 then downgrading to 1.50. This will allow you to run ISO loaders (copied games) , emulators (SNES, GBA) and non sony applications.

2.01, 2.50
In the last copuple of days hackers have just started to get non-sony code working on the above firmware but only in user-mode. This means that you can play emulators but no ISO loaders. This hack has just come out so more emulators will start to appear.

2.60
Curently not working for emulators.

Once you upgrade past 2.00 you cannot downgrade, so if you want to play copied games and emulators then stay with 1.50.
