| | Junior Member | | | | | Downgrading doubts...Total newbie here. First of all, this is NOT a begging topic about information on how to do the process. I just wanted to know if anybody here made the downgraded anytime. I just found this guide on the net: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch...rade_psp_2.cfm
It seems pretty stable and trustable. I'm a bit paranoid about messing with the PSP, cause of the "bricking" status - it costs a lot here in Brazil, and I probably couldn't buy a new one if mine turned to be a ready-to-go construction brick.
My question is: Is this information reliable? My PSP is coming te next week from Miami, so I have plenty of time to find info on how to do it - I just wanted to talk with people that are in the area longer than me.
By the way, my only purpose in downgrading is making my PSP being able to run emulators nicely. As I said, it's version is 2.0, but friends keep telling me the 1.5 version is the only one which can play emu smoothly. Are they wrong? Is there a way for me to use the emus without downgrading (it sounds too risky...)?
Thanks in advance. |

| Yes, the downgrading method shown in that link at Afterdawn is legit and will work no doubt; I have previously downgraded my own 2.0 firmware PSP to 1.5 without and problems at all. The MPH downgrader is damn stable.
Emulators will work absolutely fine on 2.0 as well (up to 2.6 firmware, do NOT upgrade beyond that). There should be no speed difference between 2.0 and 1.5. Downgrading is not risky though, it is something you should try.
Check out the files section on the site for some emulators...

| | Junior Member | | | | Yes, my focus would be on old-school gaming, not emulation of actual PSP games.
Although that's not a bad idea. For example, let's say I wanted to run Megaman Powered Up using an UMD emu. Could it be done in 2.0?
Again, I'm sorry if I sound too noobish - I really am, and I need help.

| | Junior Member | | | | | Hm, then let's say I leave it 2.0, so I can use the dev hook for newer games AND compatible snes, nes, genesis emulators?
If so, then that's what I want.

EDIT: Admin I apologise for that.

Oh, and by the way..if I downgrade to 1.5, does it mean I can't play commercial games at all? This isn't clear for me yet.
I know that there are lots of 1.5 users, so I was thinking if they only used the PSPs for emu's.
Gee. I feel ashamed of being so noob.
