All you do is unscrew the laser in the disc drive, take the ribbon cable out the back of the laser, put the cable into the new laser, then screw the new laser back onto the poles.

LOL, as i said, its dead. My laser is screwed completely. It skips like crazy on ps2 dvd's, and it doesnt like dvd's, or ps1 discs. I have already re alligned the laser, and cleaned it, but no luck, so its screwed..

Yeah remeber not to screw the laser on to tight because it needs to move up and down the poles easily.
