psp problem question

iv sent my psp away for repair because i thought there was something wrong with the umd drive cos it wouldnt read umd's iv been called today and the shop cant figure the problem out, they reckon it could be the motherboard, there not sure!! which is pretty damn annoying cos without my umd drive working i cant use the new devhook!! but the guy said he could do something to some switch which would make the psp permanately think there is a umd in the drive but i then wouldnt be able to play umd's but would this make devhook work, cos it would think there is a umd in!!!! can someone who knows about taking psp's apart please help!!

Thankyou

There is a Devhook loader that will load ISOs without a UMD, if that's what you want.

dude im having the same problem and it began yesterday, i only dropped it once like 4 months ago i dont think that has anything to do with it, i was using devhoock41d version and i was using the socom iso and i was online and just turned off with out su=igning off or getting off the wiffi so when i come back i turn it on it works i hear disc moving and the grapg=hics but when i tried o=going to infracture mode it frocze and i restarted it and when it turned back on you no if the umd is there it will autoload well it kinda stood there then turned off by itself, then i took the umd out and turned on then i inserted the umd it took a while to spin it but the it gave the message disc cannot be read so im really mad right now because i can play my umds or iso's even in dev hook i put noumd mode and it wont work it will just go to the main menu and wont freaking work. <im not sure but i think that my problem was a result of using devhook>

He didn't even use devhook in the first place, and how can DevHook fuck up your UMD laser? It can't, it uses the disc to boot up the ISO, it does exactly the same thing as when loading a UMD without the ISO where the disc spinning is concerned.

My psp blocked my laser (when falling).

Try to move it (JUST A LITTLE BIT!) and then it might work.

Note: My PSP was making some noises like toc, toc ,toc. It was the laser trying to move. And I'm not responsible for any damage! I've restored my PSP twice with this little trick!

Sounds like ppl hav got dirt stuck in there psp's laser which is stopping it from moving.

If you open up the psp and remove the old oil on the laser tracks and then put new stuff on then that could allow it to work again.
