I just successfully downgraded from a 2.6 eu psp. I experimented with fastloader and everything works fine. I also read about the mph game loader and wab version changer, two solutions for playing 2.x requiring games on a 1.5 psp. My question: Is it safe to use the mph game loader? I read that is has read/write access to the flash memory. So it could waste the flash memory and brick the psp after some time?

Does anyone has some information about this?

Wow, you dont wanna take risks eh.
Download X-flasher, and change your version to something you like. I made it 5.00, but i can also pick 3.54 or 9.99

can mph game loader really brick your psp? ans is it just when u want to play a v2.xx UMD?

Don't get worried about bricking it with loaders, X-Flash can brick and changing the firmware number to play newer games doesn't work. MPH Game Loader is old DevHook is what you should be using.
