couple questions about .dax and .cso compression methods

when making a .iso into a .dax/.cso file, should u always use the highest level of comrpession (usually 9)? what are (if any) the negative effects of using too high of a compression level (does it cause longer loading times or what?) and what are the positives (besides reducing file size?)

also, as of now, do ppl use .dax or .cso more? I heard that devhook is not compatible with .dax files, but is it being worked on or is it just not going to happen? also, does .dax files have smaller final file sizes or a .cso file (assuming both are converted from the same ISO and using the same compresion level)?

thx for all the help
Doubleposted Message Below:
ok, i just tried converting the ISO of lumines (205 MB) into .dax compression level 0 and .dax compression 9

the converted .dax file using a compression level of 0 turned out to be 150 MB

the converted .dax file using a compression level of 9 also turned out to be 150 MB

is there something wrong? because wouldnt the .dax file using compression level 9 be a much smaller file size?

.cso usually gets u a smaller size than .dax, but in some cases .dax is smaller... The only negative effects are slightly increased loading times and choppyness in the in game movies

And sometimes level 1 and levl 9 dax/cso turn out the same size...

QUick fact: most compressed isos that are found on iso sites/ bittorrent are lvl 9 compressed

yea, it turned out that a level 9 and level 0 compressed .dax file was exactly the same size for a couple of my ISOs

btw, how come devhook isnt compatible with DAX files and will it ever be?

because all of my ISOs are in .dax format right now and it would be such a hassle to convert them back to an ISO, and THEN again into a CSO

and also, is DAXZISO able to run 2.00-2.5FW ISOs?
