Sony did it to stop piracy
1.0-2.0 can all run .iso games (well 2.0 considering if you downgrade) the
ta-082 hardware was released BEFORE the exploit allowing a 2.5/6 downgrader. in the next rollout of PSP's theyll either all have 2.71 firmware, or they'll have 2.6 with hardware blocking anything below that.
It's because of selfish, for want of a better word, pigs, downloaded games, paying nothing for them, so sony would have to do something about it.
i bought my PSP with 2.0, and although i have used some homebrew, i have never downgraded, and i have never downloaded a psp game. I would have loved to back my game up onto my memory stick, but because people use that in an illegal way, Sony had to do something.

Sony is so stupid, that make such a nice handheld and we pay 300 bucks for it and can't even unleash the full power of it, I hate F***ing sony!

Why don't you try to understand sony instead of insulting them ? You know that if they let us use homebrew they will let us using isos, which means piracy. They can't do that, piracy is bad for themselves AND for the whole bunch of game companies who develop psp games. And i agree with them, i understand why they don't want us to choose our firmware.

I'm not sure downgrating is so legal anyways, as it uses security holes in the psp. If sony doesn't let us use homebrew it makes homebrew illegal.
