EA Details Upcoming Retro Hits!

Depending on your generation, you may or may not find the following interesting. Myself? Sounds like a cool idea, but definitely a waste of R&D (erm, not much researching going on here). Electronic Arts has announced a new compilation of oldies games, dubbed EA Replay, set for release on October 3rd at $29.99. B.O.B. is definitely a classic; I remember playing that for hours at a time back in my junior high years. But I advise to budget your money carefully, less than two weeks from this compilation's release is the preliminary release date for GTA: Vice City Stories! Which do you prefer?

Here are the games:
- B.O.B. : First released 1993
- Budokan : First released 1990
- Desert Strike : First released 1993
- Jungle Strike : First released 1993
- Haunting Starring Polterguy : First released 1993
- Mutant League Football : First released 1993
- Road Rash : First released 1992
- Road Rash II : First released 1993
- Road Rash III : First released 1995
- Syndicate : First released 1995
- Ultima - The Black Gate : First released 1994
- Virtual Pinball : First released 1993
- Wing Commander : First released 1993
- Wing Commander - The Secret Missions : First released 1993

I'd buy neither. Waiting for Loco Roco here! GTA is wayy to violent and I never played games when I was a kid so I am not familiar with the names of these games. Of course, I presume that's EA's target audience with this compilation: for those who have already played the games back in the 90s.

Imagine how old I feel now =). I passed entire days playing Desert Strike.

You'll know when read someone's post on some internet forum, in a near future, like 13 years from now or so, saying something like "GTA? I never heard of that, i think i'll go for WPX!".

Hehe, just thinking loud guys =), nice compilation, nice price.

edit: i'm 27.

Well, I would not say as big like as "GTA: Vice City". =).

But i'm quite sure it's one of those title series (along it sequens, urban strike, jungle strike) that helped to EA be where they're now, definitivelly.

It was a really great game.

Interesting point: if you think about it, both titles (gta and desert strike) have -a lot- of points in common: you go with your helicopter freely exploring the scenary completing any of the missions available, you're free to choose wich of them to complete at any time (it's non-linear game): picking up prisoners, destroying targets, buildings, etc. You have a zoomed out map also. And the most interesting of all: in some of them, you park/land the helicopter in some places and use some vehicles or go walking, etc.
