PSP Firmware Updates Are Not Valid!

We would like to thank "hey u" at the Sony PlayStation official forums for this little piece of information that is quite often disregarded by PSP owners. He pointed out that when you update your PSP, you are agreeing to a contract, and since minors cannot have a binding legal document, this essentially means the firmware update agreement is not valid. He also pointed out that if a minor updated, he/she should be able to have his PSP restored to the original conditions (1.5 or 2.6 with a new motherboard). Furthermore, he stated that a court could claim that a person who updated was not a minor since there was no evidence. If anybody feels like testing the system, make a video of yourself update to a new firmware and show some kinda of identification (student ID, library card, drivers license, etc). Then show us, and we will get you the media attention neccessary to fight Sony and their updates!

"A minor is someone under the age of 18 years according to the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Act (No 1 of 2002) . This is called the age of majority. The age of majority was reduced from 21 to 18 years by this Act. A minor who enters into a contract without the consent of the parents or guardian does not have to keep to the contract. But, if the minor says he or she is older than 21, then the person who entered into the contract with the minor can sue for damages."

It's only a matter of time before people start trying this, and I doubt Sony will actually replace your motherboard.

Sony would say no because it increases software piracy.

Maybe, but it's the law - they have to make a downgrader for the minors who want to 'opt out'.
