Do you own a slim PSP? Did you hack it without ever backing up the original firmware, or did it come with a firmware higher than 3.60? Do you want firmware 3.60 back?
Never fear, because here comes FreePlay with the PSP Slim Firmware 3.60 Installer. This program will let any slim PSP owner use a properly-configured Pandora setup to install firmware 3.60 on their PSP.
The installation is easy, but the setup process is a bit tedious. This is on purpose; if you mess up in any way, your PSP will be bricked. However, since it will only run from Pandora mode, you'd be able to unbrick it anyways.
If you're willing to give it a try, download it and carefully follow the instructions.
FreePlay has also made a video of the installation process, showing a conversion from 3.71m33-4 to 3.60:
The readme:
Quote:
FW 3.60 Installer by FreePlay
version 2 - with fixed instructions
Installs firmware 3.60 onto any slim PSP. DOES NOT work on a fat PSP, since 3.60 was never for the fat, and there are no drivers in 3.60 for the fat.
PLEASE NOTE: There are ABSOLUTELY no safety checks. Since this installs in Pandora mode, I figured you'd be able to unbrick if something happened to go wrong.
Requirements:
Complete 3.60 Firmware dump, ENCRYPTED, with NO sigchecks. To obtain this, install 3.60m33 on a slim PSP, dump flash0 to your PC, then run the files through jas0nuk's prxdecrytper with the 'unsigcheck' option.
3.60 IPL. To obtain this
Uninstall 3.60m33 (you can do this with the 3.60m33 installer... read the readme for details). Use Pandora and cory1492's nandTool to dump the 3.60 NAND to your memory stick.
In a hex editor, go to offset 0x42000 in the NAND dump. Copy the following 0x36000 bytes (221184 bytes) to a new file. This is the IPL, with the 'spare' bytes included. It won't work in this state until after the next step.
Click and drag the IPL onto the 'unspare' program. It will spit out a '.unspare' file. This is the IPL, minus the spare bytes, exactly as it has to be flashed onto the PSP.
A Pandora setup capable of loading an ELF. Examples include cory1492's nandTool or jas0nuk's ELF menu.
Three modules from the 3.52 firmware updater. Extract the DATA.PSP file from the update EBOOT and use jas0nuk's prxdecrypter to unpack it AND decrypt the modules. The modules you'll need are:
The 360_installer.elf file, of course. Put it in ms0:/elf/.
Instructions:
BACK UP YOUR NAND. If the program fails, there is no 'undo' option. You WILL want a backup.
Remove all the system/hidden attributes from the 3.60 flash0 dump.
Make a folder called 'flash0' on the root of your memory stick.
Copy the contents of 3.60's flash0 into the 'flash0' folder. Copy the IPL there as well, with the name 'ipl.bin'. The layout of your memory stick should be this:
[huge list of files cut, see the readme in the ZIP for details]
Run "3.60 flasher" from the ELF loader of your choice. Press Cross on the next screen to continue, or Triangle to quit. Sit back, hold your breath, enjoy
WOW this is kwel for those of you that wish to go be to 3.60 FW. Too bad I can't try it out considering it don't work on phat PSPs...

Ive got a phat psp and have flashed devhook to my psp,(3.03 i think)how do i unflash the old firmware and get a newer version so i can play the latest games?
If you're running 1.5, you can upgrade to a custom firmware (say. 3.71 M33), while if you're actually on 3.03 you have to downgrade to 1.5 and then upgrade to a custom firmware.
Hi,thanks for youre reply,i am running 1.5.I have flashed the (Rom?)to 3,01 or 3.03,cant remember. So basically my psp is 1.51,but how do i install the latest firmware while still keeping it 1.5?does it make any difference that i flashed the psp to 3.01?(do i have to re-flash it or can i just run from the ms) i also use devhook to load games,is this necessary.Regards, john
Well John, if it is an offical 3.01 FW which means it is form $ony, then u have to upgrade to 3.03 to downgrade it back to 1.5 FW and then upgrade to a custom FW... Like, 3.71 M33 Custom FW for example which is the latest FW right now.... Here is a link that can help you out: File Details-Downgrader-for-v3.03-PSP-PSP -. But be4 upgrading to 3.03 from 3.01 read the article first to make sure you can get a copy of Grand Theft Auto : Liberty City Stories or have one (the original one with the 2.00 update on the UMD). In order for this expliot to work.
