Tetris for 2.6 Released, EU Fix Added, DIY Kit Planned.

Although 2.6 Tetris was released earlier yesterday, Fanjita, the creator of 2.5/2.6 Tetris, has now posted it on his own website, and added some additional news/fixes as well. The EU version of 2.6 Tetris has been slightly fixed, so if you were having problems yesterday, be sure to redownload and try again. On top of that, Fanjita has now mentioned the impending release of a 'DIY' kit, enabling users to port their own games to 2.5/2.6 until the release of the EBOOT loader. Note that this 'DIY' kit will most probably not be a simple process, and would require moderate knowledge of PSP programming. Anyways, great job Fanjita, serving the PSP community one hack at a time! =D

"Here it is at last, the moment that v2.6 users have been waiting for - the first homebrew game for the v2.6 firmware.

You can read about it and download it here - including some tips for troubleshooting any problems you might have running it.

Note that this version has some very minor tweaks from yesterday's initial release, mostly aimed at fixing problems running with EU copies of GTA, on v2.6. It works flawlessly on my newly-upgraded v2.6 PSP, let me know if you have any problems.

I plan to release a 'DIY v2.6 homebrew' package at some point in the near future, which will include the GTA Tetris source, and allow people to port their own simple games to v2.01-v2.6, while waiting for the EBOOT loader to be finished."

You can download the patched Tetris 2.6 from PSP 3D here.

This version should work on all GTA firmwares, it automatically detects your firmware version and adapts accordingly.

No, you will need knowledge of programming/editing in order to port, it's not really a simple job, it will be of good use to OTHER developers though.

A little more info on the diy kit:

In theory you can use it to port anything. For big stuff, you probably want to wait for the eboot loader, because it will still be fairly hard work.

It's very much for experienced coders - you've gotta get your hands dirty in a way that EBOOT-coding shelters you from. Having said that, there's some auto-magic in there that makes life a little bit easier.

If you want to make v2.6-compatible stuff, you'll be limited in what you can do. There's only a small part of the whole PSP API that's available, so far, on 2.6. Filling in the blanks is possible but hard, and tedious.

But for v2.0-v2.5 stuff, you could pretty much port anything if you know what you're doing. Still, you'd have to do a few small tricks to port large stuff.
