Can someone comfirm:
If I used a version changer such as Wabs, will I still be able to downgrade my PSP without bricking it?
Thanks in Advance |

| | | | Misleading and overhyped accomplishment IMHO.
Writing to 'flash0' has been known for some time.
This is doing things slightly differently (direct to NAND), allowing a fuller image restore from pirated firmware content.
Appears to be lacking even basic tests to make sure it is a "virgin 1.50" device before it starts the potentially destructive process. IMHO Irresponsible to release it without such checks already inplace. People are bricking their PSPs, and not for a good cause.
> What does this mean? Devs can NOW start making custom firmware for the PSP.
Sorry, not that easy.
All the other problems remain. Most of the system is encrypted and tied into the bootstrap process. The system files have significant dependencies. Piece-by-piece firmware replacement is likely to 'brick' your PSP. The testing process is very dangerous (even if you first test with a firmware 'emulator' running from memory stick, the result may not work if flashed to flash0)
A minor step in the right direction, but a very risky one to release it so early. Everyone who bricks their PSP trying it does more harm than the potential good.

DO NOT TRY THIS PROGRAM
Anything that changes 'flash0' content will make your 1.50 a non-virgin. That includes the version changer. |

| | | | I had a 1.50 US and upgraded to 2.0 to try a downgrade using the upgrade from Death Jr that took it back to 1.50 (I think US)... Is there any way to tell if I definitely have a 1.50 US? |

Thanks in Advance | There is no current downgrader (that i'm aware of) that will recover every file exactly. Why do you think it crashes at 99%? |
