SCEI has just issued an official press release on the March 2006 PlayStation Business Briefing, with tons of new information on the future of the PSP.
The salient new features that are planned for the PSP are:
-Macromedia Flash Player
-GPS Reciever
-PSP Camera/EyeToy
And probably the most interesting to the homebrew community is an "e-Distribution" system which allows users to download games off the internet and load them up from Memory Stick on the PSP.
But wait, there's more! Sony also plans to release an official PlayStation 1/2 'emulator' for the PSP, which plays modified versions of original PS1/2 games on the PSP.
Personally, I wonder how they're going to do all this while preventing all possible exploits at the same time.
This is some pretty awesome stuff, and sure will spark some imagination/discussion. At least we all now know that Sony is getting their act together, and is planning tons of cool for us all. Hurray!
