PSMonkey has just released the latest version of Monkey 64, the first Nintendo 64 emulator project, and rival to the Daedalus N64 emulator. Monkey64 is an N64 emulator started from scratch that takes the PSP's limitations into consideration. The ultimate goal of the project is to make solid N64 emulation at 30-60 FPS on the PSP. Although it is no where near this figure in this release, as PSMonkey states, it could become reality in roughly six months. This new version is a complete revamp compared to the old version, be sure to give it a try if you use Daedalus, and
you choose which one is best. Outstanding work PSMonkey, the entire community is proud of this new release, keep it up!
New features/fixes in v2.0 include:
- Way too much to list for the internal changes (totally revamped); commercial roms work.
- Fast 3D/SW 2.0, Fast 3D Ext, F3DEX1.0 & F3DEX2.0 Microcodes supported.
- Many graphics and Hle issues still exist. Missing a surface clipper and N64 combiner support.
- 4Kb EEPROM supported.
