Floppydrive and therealnapster84 have just released the latest version of PSPsms, a LUA-based SMS (text message) sending program, which allows you to send text messages from your PSP to a cell phone for free (at least the part where you send it, the reciever may have applicable fees). Based off of the netlib instruction sets developed by youresam, as of now, this homebrew application can only send SMSs to US based cell phones. Great work guys, nice utilization of netlib! Features/fixes in v0.3a1 W/Fix include:
- SMS Send function has been remapped to the left trigger.
- Now works with new versions of LuaPlayer.
- Code re-written to increase overall speed.
- Various bug fixes.
- The new button combination is L+R. Download PSPsms v0.3a1 W/Fix from PSP 3D here. |

I forgot to point out, that this will only work for US. By the way netlib is coded, it wont ever support another country with SMS unless someone plays around with it, and trust me, nobody will want to pay for it. |

Is there a certain distance away or near the receiver of the message you have to be??? Could I send a message to my sis while she's at work a few miles away, she gets free text and I have wifi. I'm not sure on the specifics, sounds good though. I'll check it out tomorrow morning, itz gettin late. |

2. Yes, it does require wifi.
3. No, you don't need to be a certain distance away from the receiver.
4. Yes, you could send a message to your sister no matter where she is in the US.
Yes, it's reasonable, but it doesn't work at the moment because netlib is down . | |
