To be honest the modchip or swap-disk never caused a fall in the quality of PS1 or PS2 games.

On a different note, PS1 and PS2 are quite different to the PSP's generation; there was no such thing as a Network Update back then, something that could limit your PSP's access to the latest games; a full-size console is much easier to mod than the micro-PCB-sized motherboard of the PSP; piracy was not as big of an issue in the pre-2000 era, as downloading ISOs of games often took days, if not, weeks, to download via a 56K connection.

i mean now days, who actually has a 56k connection? maybe a thread to see
bak on topic: the mod chip will be a nightmare to install, let alone the risk of breaking components.

They're already releasing so-called "bogus-updates". Just look at 2.01 and 2.71.

Smile

Well if Sony would have listened to the public in the first place and excepted homebrew for all firmwares, the mod-chip woud'nt have had to be created.
and if the PSP goes under well so WHAT!! it's not the end of the world for some.. SCREW SONY!!!
