Daedalus R5 Released!

StrmnNrmn has just released a new, and highly anticipated, update to Daedalus PSP, the fastest Nintendo 64 emulator for PSP currently available. The new version, R5, sports an all-new DynaRec graphics engine, which greatly enhances emulation performance, offering a reported 2-5 FPS increase in games such as Super Mario 64, therefore vastly improving gameplay. There have been quite a few other optimizations, truely making R5 one heck of an awesome release; be sure to check it out if your a N64 fan. Outstanding work StrmnNrmn, and good luck on future releases!

Features/fixes in R5 include:
- New DynaRec engine, resulting in significant performance improvements.
- New front end - ability to toggle a couple of options (more to come).
- Save game first pass (eeprom4k, eeprom16k and mempak).
- Various interpreting engine optimizations.
- Use .png fileformat for background images, save ~380KB.
- Stripped out unnecessary code, save ~250KB.

Download Daedalus R5 for firmware 1.0 (2.XX via eLoader) from PSP 3D here.
Download Daedalus R5 for firmware 1.5 from PSP 3D here.
Check out more information on Daedalus at StrmnNrmn's blog here.

From what I know, MP3 decoding on the PSP actually takes quite a chunk of processing power. I'm sure there will be ways to work around that though...

N64 sound isn't encoded in mp3.. But yes, sound would kill the fps.
