Seriously, if Sony do implement a feature like this, they of all people should know it will only add to their growing legal problems, loss of sales, and they know that it will eventually be cracked.
For instance, they could once again be taken to court for violating copyright laws.
Their UMD video format's life has slowed abruptly, due to simple PC to Memory stick transfer. After all, who wants to buy a UMD when you already own the DVD?
Also,Things like this always get cracked anyway; Remember Microsoft's DRM protected WMA files? They were cracked in a shot! It would only be a matter of time before Sony is once again embarrassed because they tried to tackle the world of internet crackers, and once again, FAILED, just as their PSP Firmwares are/were. Here is a quote I found that proves that even Microsoft gets beaten: Quote: |

Because they had some deals going with movie studios and recordlabels in order to get WM used as a standard in digital media distribution online.
Microsoft's has built DRM2 software in way that does allow copy-protection upgrades, so even that songs that are previously locked with WM technology can be unlocked, new songs can contain new copy-protections. But still these locks will be cracked as well. All copy protection methods are and will be cracked in the future. | When will Sony wake up? | |
