Walkthrough for the Itunes RSS maker

ok it seems alot of people don't know how to get this working for their psp so here is a little guide im going to make. i can fix or edit things if needed

ok first off your going to need the itunes rss maker program, get it http://psp3d.com/itunesrss.zip

if u can get it running on your PC and it says in the little black box to goto "http://localhost:8080" then its working, you can leave it alone now.

Try it out in IE or what ever browser you are using to make sure it is working

now if you try to goto "http://localhost:8080" on your psp, it will say "Failed to connect to server"
this is because you don't put http://localhost:8080 you put in your IP address in place of the "localhost" in the URL

if you do not know what your IP is, find it out by doing the following:

1. Press the start button and goto "Run" its in the little section were control pannel is placed in.

2. A little box will come up, type cmd and press ok.

3. Another black box will come up, that says something like "C:\documents and settings\owner>" or whatever, type in "ipconfig" withought the quotation marks and press enter

4. Some various information will come up, look for "IP Address" and you will see a number that goes sort of like "123.425.12.2" there is a few other numbers sets there that are like that so make sure you get the IP address and not the subnetmask or default gateway!

5. Say your IP address is "123.425.12.2" then goto your PSP and type in http://123.425.12.2:8080 TADA you will get the normal screen you got when you tested http://localhost:8080 on your PC.

now that you are in, you can just click on one of the titles of you itunes playlists there and listen to the music! add your songs to your PC playlist and ENJOY!

IF YOU COULD NOT GET IT WORKING:

Check if you are even running the server program before when trying to test it on your PSP, it has to be running on your PC while listing to it on your psp or wherever

Check if you have correct IP address inputted into your PSP

Check to see if you might have misspelled something in the URL on your psp

mainly if you can't get it working, it must be something you may have done accidently...

if you need additional help, post here or PM me, im pretty sure most of you will be good with this

Enjoy, by: Khalid

hmm not to sure as to whats causing that, do you have the latest Itunes installed? is it installed correctly-like is it at the usual directory for itunes, something liek C:\Program files\Itunes\ , do you even have Itunes installed? do you have Music in your Itunes library? If all else fails reinstall Itunes with the latest one. Im sure there are probably small glitchs in the program but so far its been working excelently for me...

and for the external IP address, im not to sure, try it and find out, im pretty sure as long as you have the RSS feed set up, it will always feed no matter from what connection you are using, ill test it out using my neighbors wifi signal on my psp and post my results, im pretty sure it will work.

The itunes thing (the black screen for windows) needs to be up when trying to acess it. I'm not sure if that's what you are doing wrong, but try that. Also, you might need to open up port 8080.

I'm having the same error. When I run the .exe file, the command prompt window comes up and is blank for about 2 sec, then an error message pops up for 1/2 sec, then the server program shuts down. The error is:

\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml: No such file or directory. <DATA> Line 16

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I'm running Windows 2000 and iTunes 6.0.4 (the latest version).

got it to work - if you're having trouble copy your iTunes folder (i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\[USER]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes) to C:\.

then it will work.

I've got a better way to stram to the internet via itunes rss. Go to no-ip.org, sign up, and download their program. Then register a free domain on their servers. Finaly, you can connect to itunes rss server by going to [your_no-ip_domain]:8080 on your psp anywhere in the world. Best of all, it's free. The only problem is that you must have a fairly fast upload speed, otherwise your psp will keep on rebuffering. PM me if you need help.

I have something to add. For those people on mac computer. To find your IP Address go to System Preferences and click on Network. Then where it says "Show: Network Status" click Network Status to get a drop down menu. Click on AirPort. Then click the TCP/IP tab and it will be on that page. I don't know if this whole iTunes process will work on a mac because I have yet to try it. I assume it does, but who knows. I am adding this because I have been seeing more and more topics about mac stuff pop up every once and a while on here.
