different formats

okay, I have max media manager (which is awesome by the way, at least for the price [free]) and now im wondering, which is better, mpeg4 or avc? is one a better quality/ a bigger file than the other and if so, how much of a difference is there? Also, how much of a difference is the lowest setting under quality (very low) from the highest setting (maximum)

thanks, vonfeldt7

okay i tried going from the highest quality (maximum) to the second highest quality (very good), saved 35 mb for each section (theres about 5 sections, maybe more) and i can't tell hardly any dif. whatsoever, but i still need to know about the mpeg4 and avc issue ( i would experiment with it too, but it takes FOREVER to convert the files and i don't have time, if i did, i would probably mess with the quality again too to see if i can get it any lower but still look decent
