2.71 SE-B2

2.71 SE-B2, or SE-B', was released today. Minor changes, but still worth installing. No UMD mode should be pretty interesting.

To install, if you already have SE-A, or B, you just put it in the Game/Game150 folder, and run it. New users, it's a little more involved. There's probably more in the readme.

Quote:
Changes:

- Fixed the problem of crashing if the iso folder didn't exist
- Added experimental no umd mode. By default it is disabled.

New configurations:

- Use NO-UMD. It will enable the NO-UMD mode, whose compatibility is currently unknown, and
probably less compatible than UMD mode. This is the main reason to release this quick update,
to know more or less the compatibility of this no-umd mode.
- Use isofs driver also in UMD-inserted mode (in advanced). You probably don't have to touch this,
it's mainly done for myself. If you do it, you may decrease the compatibility of UMD mode.

There's already been a thread on this - but it wasn't in member news. I can confirm the No-UMD mode works with all the ISOs I have tested.

I already posted this. It's not in member news, because when I first went to the forum area, I got an error.

It's in homebrew/hacking. Just thought I'd let you know.

Sure - You put the games designed to be run through 2.71 or HEN C in the 2.71 folder, and 1.5 homebrew etc. in the 1.50 folder, so it knows how to run each app.

And with UMD and No-UMD, I'll explain. Usually to make ISOs work, you need a UMD inserted, to be able to 'trick' the PSP into thinking the UMD has the ISO on it, and start it. That is UMD mode, with pretty much 100% compatibility. No-UMD mode is exactly the same, but you don't need a UMD inserted and has only just been brought into SE-B.

by default the ccustom firmware will require the 2.71 homebrew in the "game" folder and the 1.5 hb in the "game150" folder the folder it is in determins if it is loaded with 2.71 kernal\user mode or 1.50 kernal\user mode as each version has different syscalls and one cant use the other.

as for se version SE-A was the first release by dark_alex which would give you a 2.71 psp with 1.5+2.71 full homebrew call it the "golden firmware" that how i feel about it SE-B was an update for it which added the ability to load iso directly from the Game->memstick menu in the xmb and the SE-B2 was released as a quick update for loading iso from xmb without requiring a umd in the drive.

When I upgraded to 2.71 se my web browser isn't working. The psp freezes before it comes up. What's wrong with that?
