Skype support for PSP Coming Soon!

Word has it that Sony is planning to announce Skype support for the PSP at the upcoming CES show. This is a great thing for the PSP and can add even more possibilities for hacking in the future. Or just regular Skype use.

The show is supposed to start on January 7th and run until January 10th. So only time will tell.

UPDATE: THIS IS CONFIRMED!!! Skype support will be provided on the PSP Slim and Lite. But, sadly, not the phat PSP, because of memory limitations.

We had studied the possibility of supporting Skype with PSP-1000 but had to give it up because of the smaller size of main memory on PSP-1000 series.
Pretty much the deciding factor (according to my source) is the PSP's RAM. The PSP Phat has 32MB of RAM and the Slim / Lite have 64MB of RAM. So in this case, size does matter.

Yeah it will be a very cool feature. I wonder how they are going to do it though. I also wonder when they are going to release a firmware with it. Maybe in 4.00. Like how PS1 emulation was the big thing for 3.00 Skype will be the big thing for 4.00. And who could forget the web browser in 2.00 too

Probably. It's to early to have a PSP2. The PSP(1) was pretty much just released. Well in my opinion.

well, ps2 lasted for almost 10 years and still sells more than the ps3 so we can say it was just released.
