Perhaps one of the biggest drawbacks regarding the PSP has been a lack of third-party support, but as the handheld gains in popularity, more third-party-ers are starting to hop on-board. And as far as Sony Head of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, is concerned, there needs to be more of this.
In a recent interview with IGN, Yoshida first issued a few teasers regarding currently unannounced PSP games for 2009, and then stated his burning desire (our words, not his) to see more third-party developers embrace the surging platform. "What we'd like to see more is for third parties also - there is so much great IP that they have," Yoshida said in somewhat broken English. And thanks to the better sales of the PSP in both North America and Japan, Yoshida hopes the software sales increase right along with it. As a message to developers, he says, "look at what the PSP can do for their titles and the potential," and we have to agree with that sentiment. For a portable unit, the PSP is one hell of a machine, and we're confident the developers have only begun to scratch the surface. If they can accomplish the likes of God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, think what else they can accomplish in the future...
Anyway, it's just good to know the PSP continues its upward swing, and the longer it continues, the more Yoshida's dreams will come true. Those third-party devs will come a-runnin'!

Not sure I agree with this article. 3rd Party is great, but what about support from Sony? They need to make me NEED a game.
And I'm not sure about the PSP "gaining popularity" either.
P.S. The source needs to be fixed.
