The congressman, who has been known for targeting video games in the past said the following:

The video game industry has a responsibility to parents, families, and to consumers – to inform them of the potentially damaging content that is often found in their products. They have repeatedly failed to live up to this responsibility. Meanwhile research continues to show a proven link between playing violent games and increased aggression in young people. American families deserve to know the truth about these potentially dangerous products.

We must hold the video game industry accountable and do everything in our power to ensure parents are aware of the detrimental effects that violent games can have before making decisions on which games are appropriate for their children to play. I am proud to introduce the Video Game Health Labelling Act of 2009, and am hopeful my legislation can work to stop the growing influence of violent media on America’s children and youth.

If the plan goes forward, warnings like in the picture above will be placed on the front of the box for both packaged and digitally distributed copies.

Absolutely ridiculous. Forget what ever economic crisis that is happening right now, oh and our president is absolutely insane and is committing crimes against humanity by the hour. But screw all that, we have to put down the videogame industry.

look at where the cigarette warning label is... on the side (still) and kinda small...maybe we need to just have better educated public i.e the difference between reality and fantasy.....

I mean how exactly is playing video games hazardous to your health? I don't think this will fly

Yeah true but that's only so many people out of the population. Unless you have a condition like that there is no harm playing video games so this plan to put a warning label on games is bogus
