Question Windows XP vs Media Center

Im getting a computer pretty soon and im wondering wether i should get the computer with windows xp or windows xp media center.
I currently have windows xp and i like it.
Is Windows XP Media Center the same as Windows XP except with added features?
Will Windows XP media center let me do the same things i can do with regular windows xp???

If you have a Xbox360 then definatly get a Media Center PC for use of homebrew and other things. I also like media center BEcause you can rcord TV and also you get a REAL TV channels for free.

Windows Media Center PC's normally Have a TV Tuner in them.
I am running a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 system, and the only bonus's that I can find is the Media Center (Can watch DVD's, TV, Listen to music, all in the Media Center program, You can also hook it up to your xbox 360, which I love becuase I can stream TV to my room (no outlet). It comes with SP2 integrated into it, which most PC's do nowadays. It also comes with "Digital Media Enhancements," Which is just some crappy dancers and an audio converter.
It looks much nicer too
Thats about it. If you want a TV tuner, go for a Media Center. The graphics card isnt normally powerful (usually something like a X1300), so I would suggest upgrading it to at least a X800 XL (even though the model number is lower and the card is a bit older, it still kicks the crap out of a X1300 by about 1300x :P )

I would say wait and build your own computer with a Intel Core2Duo E6700, if you can get your hands on that piece of amazing hardware by intel. It kicks the CRAP out of the best AMD cpu, and is less than half the price.

Or you could send the money to me and i'll "build" you a computer :P:P

Get the media edition, it runs all normall xp apps and comes with extra like Media Center which lets you watch dvd's, tv etc and other apps like Windows Audio Converter and Windows Dancer, ive only got Media Edition as it was a free upgrade with my pc when i bought it, Its also has support for a tuner but sadly as my pc was upgrade it didnt include one, but if your paying extra for it you should only get it if you have an xbox 360 you can hook it up, but not to sure about that, need any more info just ask

Media Center is pretty much XP Pro stripped down with some added features so Media Center should load up just as fast as Pro and have alot of the same stuff. Ill be finished installing the copy I just DLed soon so ill tell you how it is.
