USB controller driver corrupt

hey i need some help..my usb ports were workin just fine a minute ago and now they don't work at all so i looked in the device list and theres a little exclamation mark telling me that the drivers r corrupted. so how do i fix that. i uninstalled them and they didn't install correctly when windows reinstalled them. so im wondering do i have do repair windows with the windows CD. or is there anything else i can do. it says on my motherboard CD that if u have service pack 1 or higher it should already have the drivers. so my motherboard CD doesn't have the driver for it on it.

The first thing to do was not uninstall the drivers - it was to reboot the system, Windows does that sometimes when it gets confused. It had nothing to do with your drivers, Windows had just stopped detecting changes in that device. If it WAS the drivers, (unlikely, as you made no changes to the system), you should have re-installed or repaired the drivers - not uninstalled them.

Since you now have no drivers, try re-installing the operating system, or try google-ing for the drivers themselves. Also, try the device installation wizard, which, after some exploration, should bear a USB device without any drivers. I suppose you should try this first, before even thinking about re-installing Windows.

Hmm... ok. Try the device install wizard, and if that fails, Google for the drivers or repair windows.

Have you tried the windows device wizard? It's your best bet!

the reason it was corrupted was because i installed usb monitor and then i deleted its folder without going into add/remove programs to completely remove it. now it works though
