The first thing I'm going to do is turn all of that off. Who cares how it looks, it's wheather or not it will run my apps without problems that's importiant.
I think I'm going to write a program the day Vista comes out that turns off all the shiny bells and whistles.

- High system requirements. Although the MINIMUM 1GB of RAM and a recommended 2.8GHz system, it is extremely efficient. Even the latest Beta 2 can run BF2 faster than my XP installation, and i only have 1GB of RAM! (Yes, i can run pretty much any game on Vista better than XP and it works fine. It's OTHER programs that crash occassionally....)
- Those unknown proccesses? Like XP, Microsoft tends to barge in non-essential services with baseline Windows systems (has ever since 2000). Being the tweak-head i am, first thing i did when i installed Vista was check out the new services (by going to Start > Run > 'services.msc'... try it on XP too). You can read about each service, and, if you're sure you don't need it, you can disable it. I have about 10 services disabled in Vista that are usually on Automatic Startup! Do some research if you're not sure. The Services panel is the first place to go to get the most speed out of your machine!
Vista, indeed, has some very nice features - but i am getting sick of people saying that they 'stole' a lot of things from Mac. If you wanna get technical, 'Mac' stole a lot of stuff from other OS's too such as AmigaOS/Workbench and various Unix systems.
Also, Apple is 49% owned by Microsoft. So who cares.
They all suck anyway. Linux rules. Lol.
Oh, in reply to that comment "Who cares how it looks, it's wheather or not it will run my apps without problems that's importiant".... whats the point of having a blinged-up power-pc without the eye-candy? Besides - Windows (ever since 2000) has a thing called TRUE MULTI-TASKING - each subroutine has its own memory space and if a program request additional RAM or CPU cycles, it uses what is called "priority" (to halt programs not being used) and "paging/virtual memory" (to temporarily free RAM for programs with higher priority). If you're worried about visual effects, i got a solution for you.....
Direct X. Or Amiga.
HA! Im a jerk...

Back then, you all were in love with windows so I say stop jumping on the bandwaggon and choose a god damn OS. |
