There are tons of free linux distributers but its more a choice u make, what u wanne do whit it?

i preffer gentoo <-- my opinion

do any have a nice GUI (that doesnt look like windows 95), and on linux do most programs not work?

u can use all kind of gui on linux, just use google 2 find one that suits your needs, not every programm works on linux it has 2 be compiled for linux.
u can use a emulator for that mather but they dont work fast/ reliable
