Points: 21.51 Donate | | | Please Help Me With My Computer! My computer has been giving me problems since 3 months after i got it. I have a Dell XPS 400. The computer randomly restarts when i close or open applications. I took out my 512 DDR2 RAM and it worked a little better (it did the opposite ) but still it restarted at random moments. The computer is not overheating b/c i just cleaned the fans and it still restarted when I started steam. The computer never feels hot. I have no clue whats going on. AND! I did a diognostic on all my RAM and everything is fine. I am desparate for an answer! What is wrong with my computer??? I did this with windows xp also so it is not b/c i have windows vista. Please help me, I will answer any question that will help my computer. |

If not, make sure there is a big enough (wattage) power supply to power it. Make sure you are not overclocking it too. |

1. 'Post a pic of ur mobo"... ROFL AS IF. If there is ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE that you could SEE there is NO WAY the problem would be as subtle as this.
2. 'Checked your power cable is firmly in the PSU?'.... wtf? I'm not even gonna BOTHER criticising that...
3. DesolataX, i WOULD criticse you since the PC is only NEW he said and bad capacitors are EXTREMELY UNLIKELY, but if you are thinking what i'm thinking that's ok. And that thought IS.... Dude. You bought a Dell. Do you drive a Mitsubishi too?
hahahah seriously.. ur gonna have lots of probs. Sometimes u get lucky with Dell, but a lot of the time u'll get one of the machines that fell off the truck or somethin. If it's under warranty, DEMAND that they replace the ENTIRE machine. Coz if it has problems now, it will NEVER stop. I GUARANTEE it.
Also, i noticed ur sig. Why the f*ck are u running a pre-release OS on a brand name PC? Have u tried running XP and seeing of the problems stop??? I mean im running Vista RC2 now, but im dont running brand-name crap and it's also a socket 478-P4 so its extremely stable, not like that DDR2 crap.
Apart from that, it's obviously RAM or just a general "screwed-up-dell-PC-like-90-percent-of-dells" situation. Don't bother trying to get it 'fixed' coz chances are its the RAM or the mainboard. Just buy a new one, or get it returned.
Apart from that, try settings BIOS defaults/safe settings/compatibility settings.
Sorry if i offended anyone, i just grow tired of people who speak when they have nothing usefull to say. DesolataX, blade and 0nyx7 are the only ones to say something not retarded.
Oh and Robkellas, 'lucky' and 'Dell' should only EVER be used in the same sentance in a way similar to the following... "If you have a Dell, you will be lucky if your house doesnt explode."
EDIT: Sorry, i didn't see the bit where u said it happened with XP before Vista. My bad.
