P.S I know you can run Windows on a Mac, but what about Linux? |

The freeze up and the programs have a habit of quitting on you without warning which sucks when you're doing a project or something. I'd go with Windows if I were you. |

PC's are cheaper, if you install linux on your PC and take the appropriate security measures, you'll have a nice stable and secure system. |

The only downside with windows is the security vulnerabilities. 99.999% of all viruses out there target the Windows operating system because Windows is so widely used. If you install a firewall and some antivirus software you wont go wrong. Near enough all the games released for the main games consoles are released for the Windows OS. Stay away from 9x and ME, stick with 2k, XP or Vista.
Linux advantages is that it is free and there is loads of free software for it. Most of the free software writen for linux is also available for windows (Firefox, OpenOffice etc). Compatibilty issues with newer hardware.
OSX looks nice, but the hardware is expensive. Very few games are available for Mac OS X, and those that are available are released months after the Windows release. Ideal for graphic designers.
