I want to install an OS on my external hard-disk (40GB), but I keep having errors. I partitioned a 20GB logical space, into which I tried installing Windows XP pro, Windows server 2003 enterprise (stripped), Windows 98SE and Ubuntu 6.06LTS.

Now, I can understand Windows 98SE, it's ancient. I'm not really fond of Ubuntu, either. It's just, with the other two Windows OS's, they install fine but on boot, during the "Windows xxx" and the logo booting screen, I get a blue screen. It gives me all that twaddle about checking for viruses, checking the disk, etc. I did them, but to no avail.

I think it may have something to do with Windows trying to mount the disk when it's already loading stuff from it.

Any help?
