That is highly importiant because not only should you report the damage to the cops, you need to report to both insurance compainies. I'm not sure where you live, but the some locations have laws the require you to report it to the insurances compainies of you, her, and the owner of the car she was driving (In California, where I live, if the damage of both cars is over $500, it must be reported). Also, the fact that she argeed to pay should have been gotten in writing or have had a legal witness (such as a cop. Get the badge number and name next time). Not only will this prove her obligations should it come to court, she also is admiting responsibility (This may differ depending on your local laws).
I recomend reporting it to the cops first. If you are missing any of the above info, they can get it for you. After that, tell the insurance companies involoved. Finaly, call her (and leave a message if you must) explaining that you have reported the accident and who you reported it to.
Report to in this order: - Cops
- Your insurance
- Her insurance
- The owner of the car's insurance (the cops should be able to find this by looking through thier database of licences).
Good luck, and may the force be with you .

His ditch was really dug deep and the front end of the car got smashed really bad on the incline of the ditch. Talked to the guy at the house and he told me not to worry about it that I could get it towed anytime. Next day I call a tow company the guy gets there and tells me he can't tow it without a police report. So we had to call the state police and they came and the cop bitched at me about how she could give me a ticket for fleeing the scene of an accident and how any accident with over $200 in damage (in Michigan) must be reported to the police. Even if no one else is involved in it. | |
