as a side note- 200kbps is considered slow now, some people have 30mbps (1000kb=1mb) |

I live in australia with a Cable connection although sometimes I can get very slow download speeds from files located in the US |

I wasn't being exact.........
and to find the real speed, choose the fastest server closest to you (yes distance DOES make a difference) |

The best test I have done is trying to download a large file (such as Windows XP SP2) off of Microsoft's servers. They basicly will send you that file as fast as you can download it. I used to get 2 Mbytes/sec back at my old university, and the problem wasn't on MS's end .
