Here is a direct quote from the page: Quote: Trademarks are not verbs.
CORRECT: The image was enhanced using Adobe® Photoshop® software.
INCORRECT: The image was photoshopped.
| And another: Quote: Trademarks are not nouns.
CORRECT: The image pokes fun at the Senator.

- Xerox/Copy
- BAND-AID/adhesive bandage
- Aspirin/non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug
- Spandex/polyurethane fiber
- Super Hero/trademarked jointly by Marvel Comics and DC Comics, though usually regarded as a comic-book genre
- Teflon/Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), used as a non-stick surface, trademark of DuPont
- Jell-O/gelatin dessert
This list goes on and on...See the full list at List of generic and genericized trademarks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you say: I photoshopped this with MSPaint, you are using it as a verb and the trademark people can void their trademark if it is used to commonly like that.
That's what I heard somewhere, not sure how accurate it is. |

That's what I heard somewhere, not sure how accurate it is. | Acctully, you do bring up a very good point. Currently, Google is at risk of losing the trademark to Google because of the word "Googling." It has been defined in both Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries. If a trademark is lost, anyone can then produce a product with that word. How many google spin-off would you want floating around?
Two examples of this are "Webster's Dictionary" and "Asprin." With just a quick look online, there are over 100 different dictionaries that use the name "Webster," but the orriginal dictionary is Merriam-Webster, because "Webster" lost it's trademark status, and the company had to re-mark under the name "Merriam-Webster." Asprin, on the other hand, lost it's trademark during WWI when the government of the U.S. sezied the holdings of Bayer and never deffened its trademark.
