XP PC Resolution Resets on Boot. Help Please >_<

My pc has started doing this, and its annoying.

I change the resolution to whatever, but every single time i shut down my pc, and then boot it up again, the resolution resets to 800x600.

Anyone had this problem, or know how I could fix it?

Thanks.
McGee

Custom themes like the AlienwareGUI Suite can change your resolution permenantly, and can make your computer look alot better.

You can download the AlienwareGUI suite: Here

you could try removing your graphic card drivers fully and reinstall the latest versions (or you could try the xp generic drivers to check if it does the same to them) if the generic drivers work try latest drivers from vendor.
p.s. what Gfx card you got ?

It sounds like your video card may be improperly set up, or you're trying to force a higher resolution than your monitor wants. I agree with djcopey, reinstall the drivers, and try to use the Windows Update method to search for drivers.

Thanks for the help guys.

Tried changing it in safe mode, with no luck.

So am going to try the driver thing now.

Btw, my card is a Radeon x1600.
