It's because my win xp got a nasty virus that doesn't let me run the os. the os is booting with that small blue bar and then the screen get's blue and turns off the computer.
I need a little os because i'm almost reaching my download limit and I need it fast, and the other program is to see if I can copy those files from another partition to a dvd or usb drive.
So, what do you recommend?
plz, try to awnser as fast as possible.

I don't care what OS is, as long as it is as small as possible and runs somekind of program like that that I described. I don't care if it is Windows, Linux or MacOS (Thought I never touched in a mac before |

However, if you want to write back to your partition, check out Knoppix, if you can. I know it doesn't qualify as small (smallest one fits on a CD, just barely, DVD at the largest), but from there you can do anything because it has just about every single program you could ever need running under Linux from a CD/DVD and it supports NTFS reads and writes. Seriously, borrow a friend's computer for this, it is worth having around. Not to mention, cool. "yea, I have Windows! Well, I have Linux....ON A CD! BOYA!"

Or alternativley you could get a free linux distro through a PC magazine
