Exclamation Graphics Card Error

Hey guys,

Im not too sure if anybody will b able to answer this but this is my problem:

I have an intel chipset which has inbuilt graphics and a ATI RADEON X600. The pc always boots to the intel graphics but i want it to boot into the RADEON. I have tried the "cmos" settings on the bios and the main problem seems to be that windows doesnt recognise my card, i didnt think it knows its in the computer. I cant install any ATI drivers cos it says i don't have the card. I dont know whats happeneing. Also to finish there is a strange "PCI Device" in my device manager, could this be the GFX card? It wont let me install drivers for it..

Thanks

First thing is to make sure your VGA cord is connected to the Ati card not to the motherboard. Next thing to do would be make sure the card is in the PCI slot properly.

Sounds like a simple case of not having the right drivers.

Try going here, to OmegaDrivers. They work better than the actual ones that ATI made, not to mention they can be uninstalled SIGNIFICANTLY easier than ATI's.

ATI makes horrible drivers...

If you are doing this in linux instead of a windows environment, let me know.

Also, once you HAVE your new drivers, disable your on board video card under the manage computer screen.

I would recommend DriverAgent, but you have to pay for an account.

Doubleposted Message Below:
Allrighty

Basically i downloaded and installed the omega drivers, the correct ones and then i disabled the entries for "intel chipset" blah blah under "Display Adapters" in device manager,.

rebooted and it loaded up, on the chipset inbuilt graphics. i plugged the monitor into the radeon. Windows did't wanna know.

This is wierd, even if i look under my device manager now, i am running on disabled hardware!!
