| Yea, I remember it well. I was in 9th grade, and I had said to myself a few days before that I need to get more involved into what is going on in the world around me because I will be 18 and able to vote in 4 years. I started by turning my alarm-radio from my previous music station to KFWB, one of the news stations for Los Angeles. Normally, it was just traffic and local stuff, but I remember this as the day were not even the traffic came on.
Being in California, I was just hearing this at 6:00 in the morning, before I had gotten to school. I didn't have time to turn on the TV on the way out, but I was the one who alerted the office staff as soon as I could. Every classroom had the TV's on, just watching the news. (A good thing is that I got out of 3 tests I hadn't studied for, but that is not worth the lives of those lost)
When I got home, my mom told me that this is my generation's JFK assassination. She said I'd remember everything about this day, just like she does the day JFK was murdered. And she was right.
A toast to those who were lost, and to those families who have to deal with the pain of it. I am not a god-fearing man, but even I have prayed for you. My heart is with you.
