Bioshock Shock

Ok, so as many of you may know, Bioshock is difficult to install on some computers (Crashes etc occur).

I am running a Windows Media Center Edition OS (Basically XP with a few extras), with an Nvidia graphics card...

I have the most recent beta Nvidia driver (To fix the graphics issue supposedly), the most recent Direct X, and I disabled all other programs running on my comp...

But it crashes before I get to the menu.

I have tried reinstallation of the game, reinstalling my video driver (twice), reinstalling direct x, disabling all items loading with my computer except Windows services, and still can't get to the menu...

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most great full.

Bioshock really screwed up the vectors, or sectors I forget the word, on my friend's computer. It was so bad that he needed to buy a new hdd. He lost everything! Here is a solution: buy a 360 and play it on there. Yeah it's pricey, but it will save you a lot of grief.

already got one and if it screwed up his\her sectors tell him/her to give hdd regenerator a try if there aren't to many knackered sectors it has a good revival rate and will mark the f**ked sectors to not be used.

plus what are you full specs i.e. graphics card type + features, ram size, hdd size, items installed on the p.c. any of these can cause it to fail.

what kind of graphics card do you have? that there is probably the answer. I have the evga 8800 gts 320Mb, and it runs bioshock fine. if you havs somthing lower than the 7200, it probably just won't run.

On a side note, I will not buy a 360 until I have a 80% assurance that it will not red ring (Sorry, 67% is not good enough).

Well, I never heard of such game but I've had problems intalling a game that crashed, etc... It was Rome:Total War, and the only way to stop crashing was by saying to run in compatibility mode, win2k. It probably won't work, but everything is possible try it!
