Exclamation Police: Boy, 7, Drove Grandma's Car To Mall. Cops think videogames are involved

Quote:
Police: Boy, 7, Drove Grandma's Car To Mall

Motorist Follows Boy, Takes Keys Away

Police said a 7-year-old boy drove his grandmother's car more than a mile to a Muncie, Ind., shopping mall before another motorist blocked the car and took the keys.

Several motorists called police Tuesday morning to report a small child driving a Geo Tracker. Muncie Police Chief Deborah Davis said the unidentified boy was so small that some motorists could not see anyone behind the wheel.

A motorist followed the car as it turned into the mall parking lot and ran into some bushes and a tree. He blocked the car with his vehicle and took the keys from the boy.

Davis said child protective services was called to examine the boy.

Police speculated he might have learned to drive from a video game.

The main reason I posted this is the last line. That is what got me. Why do they always have to go and blame video games? It's bull***t. Why wasn't anyone watching the kid? Maybe just maybe he learned to drive from someone in his family. You know by watching them or maybe someone in the family put the kid on their lap and let him steer as they worked they peddles in a parking lot or something. I know I'm ranting a bit and I'm sorry but it just pisses me off that video games are immediately blamed.

This.

Yeah, it's pretty lame how video games are "the root of all evil" to alot of people. Remember the 16-bit blood effects in early Mortal Kombat games? Or the DOOM fiasco? People just like to have a scapegoat to blame stuff on. I say that the parents of the kid are to be blamed, not the video game.

Actually, you know what? This is correct. VIDEO GAMES INVOLVING DRIVING SHOULD BE BANNED. PACMAN IS EVIL, IT TEACHES OUR CHILDREN TO BINGE EAT! MARIO TEACHES THEM TO BANG THEIR HEADS ON BRICKS AND EAT PSYCHEDELIC MUSHROOMS! THIS ATROCITY MUST BE STOPPED! WE MUST BURN ALL GAMES! THEY ARE THE WORK OF SATAN.

:S LOL

I can't be the parent's fault or even the grandmother for being so irresponsible for leaving her keys around for the little squirt to find them.

And since when does pressing the A button to move or shoot have anything to do with stuff in real life? GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!

And for the record, kids have been pulling stuff like this since before videogames, the television, and the Beatles (they seems to still be blamed for things!) I did this when I was a child, four years old to be exact, and I had never played a videogame. AND when I was 10, my father used to have me go out for beer runs when his dumb friends would come over. And I took his station wagon. SO THERE

dq9, how would you buy beer at 10?

and on the subject, like some of you said, kids have been doing things like this since before video games

dont blame games when little eric drives your car
you should have been watchin him, apparently you arent a parent

no doubt hes played a game where you do math
doesnt mean he does his homework

and "Police speculated he might have learned to drive from a video game. "
he doesnt know how to drive
