I use Nextel and it is awful! No service, phone calls get dropped, I don't get my voicemail messages until 2 WEEKS after they're left, some calls do go through all the way on the rare occasion I actually have decent service.

When I get my own plan, they are not the ones I am going to go to first. Possibly AT&T would be my first choice. Also, keep in mind that any carrier that uses the CDMA wireless standard (Verizon, Alltel, and a few others) will NOT work outside of the US, Canada, and parts of northern Mexico. If you are with a GSM carrier (AT&T and most others), your phone will work just about anywhere in the world, short of you activating it (it's free to do so, but your roming charges will be huge).
