Warning:Digsby is using you!

This is a warning to all Digsby users, the creator(s) of the program are using you! How are they doing this? Simple, via spyware and viruses included with their newest released of their inferior product.

They are not only loading spyware onto your computer, but planting viruses that examine the stock market, watch your every move on your computer for marketing purposes, searching the web, and more. They are using up your CPU power, your bandwidth, and your electricity! And they get away with this when you hit "I agree" when you install their crap.

As Lifehacker says, "stick to open-source."

Hi, I just wanted to comment to correct something. Digsby does not install spyware or viruses. The offers shown once during installation are 100% optional. The research module can be disabled in Preferences > Support Digsby.

We realize that we should have been more upfront about this and we updated Digsby to show a popup notification the first time it tries to run. We published a blog post explaining our revenue models and asking for you feedback here - Digsby Blog » Build 62 - Crystal Clear!

It shouldn't even be in there in the first place!

You guys take advantage of computer unsavy people who just click next when they install stuff. They hit next so fast that they don't see what kind of crapware is being loaded onto their computers.

That's totally going to fix everything...NOT! None of that garbage should be in there in the first place. The developers of Digsby should be ashamed of themselves for including all this in their product. It's developers like that who give coding and programming a bad name.

I agree with dq9, I mean hemiola1 completely (still getting used to the name change). What you people at Digsby did is wrong and the only reason you're trying to fix it is because you're in deep shit and trying to cover your asses.

Excuse my language.

I'm gonna have to give it to the Digsby people, they did the right thing in the end by going around and admitting their mistakes (as well as scouring the internet to correct statements about them), but I still <3 me some open software where I can take someones binary code (10011110110100011101101011000011010) and use it to what ever purpose I need.

If that even was them trying to "correct their mistakes." Even if you can turn things off, that extra software is still in the code and still runs after install.
