UMD drive and power switch problems...

Hi, just got my v1.50 PSP, but the UMD drive pops out of its own accord, and the power switch sometimes sticks up with no effect. Are these problems common on earlier models? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... does anybody know of a way to fix either of these? My PSP is basically a homebrew machine so I don't use the drive much, so some sellotape is a temporary fix for the UMD drive. Or should I get it fixed or something?

Hey.

This is a very rare thing to happen, but it has happened to some people, including me, and I had a 2.50 with the problem, so its not only on earlier ones. It is commonly known as the 'flying disc'.
It is a defect in the latching system which holds the umd cover in place, which causes it to pop open randomly, and also pops open if u give ur psp a lil twist.
There's no easy way to fix it as its a manufacturing fault.
Bottom line is, take ur psp back to where you bought it and there should be no problem them replacing it for you, as it is a genuine Sony manufacturing fault.

The only problem with this, is obviously, you would no longer have a 1.50. So its up to you if you wana put up with these faults to keep a 1.50.

OK, thanks MadManMcGee, but I really need 1.50 to stay happy, as I did a trade with my friend (my 2.5 psp and some stuff for his 2.00 - I downgraded ) and he is happy with the stuff, I'm happy with my homebrew, so neither of us would want to trade back, and I have no idea which shop it came from, but his mum said it was from Saudi Arabia...

theres a chance u will still get a 2.00 or 1.5 (or 1.51/1.52). just search the forums on how to check the speacial letter on the back of the box, and when you go to exchange it, make sure u have the letter. (if you dont understand this, im sayin that there is a letter on the box a-g, which stands for which model/firmware it is. just make sure u have an a-f, and u will have a 1.5-2.00.) good luck

No, soz, but all of the shops near me (I'm English) don't accept refunds unless there is the original reciept, and my friend didn't give me the reciept. Also, they don't accept faulty stuff normally. Unless I take it to them preowned, but they would pay about £6 for it...

EDIT: And there are no walmarts in England.
