Originally Posted by Admin I am not denying anything. Server uptime has been 100% since last week. The reason why you are still seeing downtime is your ISPs (Internet Service Provider) fault. ISPs have multiple DNS cache pools that they rotate through on a daily basis.
For example (there may be more or less DNS servers depending on your ISP):
12 AM - 6 AM: DNS Server 1
6 AM - 12 PM: DNS Server 2
12 PM - 6 PM: DNS Server 3
6 PM - 12 AM: DNS Server 4
Now, during the server transfer, the nameservers of PSP3D.com were changed to a new nameserver (a new location of the datacenter). Therefore, the DNSs are updated in every ISP in the world to reflect the new location of PSP3D.com's server. However, this process takes time, as there are thousands of ISPs in the world, and not all of them update their caches every day. Some even do it weekly. And just because one of their servers updates, doesn't mean all of them do.
Consider the following:
12 AM - 6 AM: DNS Server 1 (updated with PSP3D.com's new server location)
6 AM - 12 PM: DNS Server 2 (still showing location of old server)
12 PM - 6 PM: DNS Server 3 (updated with PSP3D.com's new server location)
6 PM - 12 AM: DNS Server 4 (updated with PSP3D.com's new server location)
What you have in the above situation is the site working the majority of the time, but from 6 AM - 12 PM, it would appear as though PSP3D.com is down, when in fact, it is only down to you, the user of your particular ISP (as well as anyone living near you who uses the same ISP).
Personally, my DNS servers at my ISP are fully updated and I do not see any issues at all with the site. With large sites such as PSP3D.com, DNS cache updates can take quite some time, but the end should be nearing soon. The downtime that you see is completely out of my and my servers control.
Here are a few basic steps you can take to try to get PSP3D.com working for you (if you don't feel like waiting an extra few days for the DNSs to fully update at your ISP):
1. Clear your Internet browser's cache.
2. Restart your DSL/cable modem.
3. Call your ISP and tell them to update their DNS servers.
Good luck, and once again, thanks for being a member of PSP3D.com! | Hope this helps you understand. |
