some gameshark help

Ok so i got a Gameshark Broadband Enabled from a family member as a graduation gift. It says on the box "USB Storage Reader". This is completely new to me since the only other gameshark I have used was for PS1. Whats it mean, can i put codes on a USB device such as a PSP and then upload them to my gameshark??? Can someone please explain what the USB thing is for and how exactly do i use it?
