I'd also like to know how smooth it runs and how long it takes to install (should be close to XP installation, correct?). I've taken the compatibility test, and the results came out as compatible, I just want to hear some testimonies.
-Thanks, Sponge. |

1. Clean Install - Format your HD and install Vista
2. Upgrade - Just upgrade from XP, no files lost.
If you want to daul-boot, I HIGHLY recommend using a secondary hard drive, if there's even an option to use Vista with XP. |

first of all, it lets u dual boot if u install it on a hard drive or pertition that dosent have xp on it. if u do that, then when u boot up your comp, a boot loder comes up with Microsoft Windows (vista) and earlier version of windows(xp)
in my opinon... its only OK.... similar to xp except restyled... also it isnt compatible with alot of xp progrAMS \but my video card cant support windows aero so icant give an accurate judgement on that
EDIT: to answer the original questions - yes it runs very smoothly for me and takes about an hour total to install |

In addition, once you install Windows Vista Beta 2 (or RC1) you cannot roll back to the previous operating system installation—you will either have to acquire and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a previous edition of Windows.

EDIT: Just read mebizzle's post, how do I set up a hard drive partition?
EDIT 2: Actually, don't bother replying, my dad would go nuts if I installed an OS without him knowing it even really excisted, and we don't have super-fast internet anyways. (1.3Mbps from my room, upgrading to 2Mbps next month)

Right click on my computer, then click on "manage." Then click on "disk managment," and partion from there. You may have to do a defrag to get enough space.
From there, turn off your computer, and boot off of the cd/dvd. Select the new partion, and install. It may say something about replacing/modifying the master boot recourd (i.e., MBR), and let it do it's stuff. Congrats, you have vista and xp on the same machine.

Points: 206.08 Donate | | | ok that helps heaps but i already have vista installed on my laptop, can i still partition it and install xp on the other partition, cuz vista is running really slow on it seeing that it is only 1.7ghz and 447mb of RAM ah and will i be able to partition on a 40gb harddrive?
EDIT: ok well it turnes out that my laptop is already partitioned into a second part which i think is for the toshiba main setup screen stuff when i boot up. but my question is, can i partion it again and if i can then how do i go about it?
