What you need to do is find the ubuntu 6.06 dapper drake live install cd and start to go through with the install, however just go as far as the edit partitions step and edit them. Then leave the install and you will have 3 partitions. Then install xp and vista on different partitions, then go back to the ubuntu install and install that on the third partition. The install will find the other 2 OS's for you and set up the Grub loader (the screen which first shows when u boot up which OS you want to use). Now, you will have all 3 of these great OS's and the bootup screen. Otherwise, if you want to split the partitions, you need to buy software for windows. The linux software is all free. Also, the dapper drake linux install is new and has a nice GUI and is one of the easiest linux distributions to install. Its quicker and easier than xp i think.
edit- you cannot have windows and xp on one partition you can have it on one hard drive. Partitions are for OS's as you know, but two cannot be on one parition.

i found a free one here describes it
Ranish Partition Manager http://www.ranish.com/part/
Partition Manager is a freeware program that partitions hard disks. It will help you to install and dualboot Linux and multiple copies of Windows. For example, it will let you to run Win ME, Win 2k, and Linux on a single box. Also, using Partition Manager you can copy, move, and resize disk partitions. |

These two take up all of the disk dirve and therefore there is no room for a new one. You therefore need a program to do it. Thats why parition magic costs money. | |
