However, I feel that may not be the easiest task, due to the two main reasons I suggested a wiki, and not a manual. - Leads to community. The idea is that everyone can edit it and work together. I don't mind limiting edits to registered members (with 5 posts or about) to keep out the riff-raff spammers, but editing should not lie only in the hands of a few. This should as open of a process as possible, mirroring something like Wikipedia. I suggest a tiered system below.
- Keeps it updated, and accurate. Becuase (just about) anyone can edit the pages, the wiki will keep up with the fast pace of the PSP world. Also....
- Developers can edit. Hopefully, the wiki will be more accurate then the READMEs usually provided. Plus, it can better present developer-only "hidden functions" or cool stuff that no one would know otherwise.
Because of the community-style inherent to a wiki, the credits list will be long. It may just be easier to let the page history tab speak for itself (wikipedia example: Revision history of PSP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ).
Now that I've covered that, I propose that we use a tiered system for revitions based on the number of posts that a user has. This is possible - Non-member: View pages only, but can suggest edits through the discussion page.
- 5 post member: Can edit most existing visible pages directly. The 5 post mark is to help keep possible spam down on the main pages.
- 50 post member: Can create a new page
- 100 post member: Minor mod powers (cannot lock pages)
- 300 post member: Major mod powers (can lock some pages)
- 500 post member: Full mod (Can lock any page)
- Developer special member: Has major mod powers, with out having them post on the main site.
- Admin : Self explanatory

These are only suggestions, if you guys and gals can come up with improvements, go ahead! Let's wiki this post!
I crack myself up.....
Oh, and my time zone is GMT -8:00, Los Angeles, California. I'll see if I can be online then, I might be AFK.

As for the members editing thing. Any person who is really willing to screw with things can get a certain amount of posts to edit stuff. Will some one keep a back up or will the original author keep an up to date backup of their work?
These are all things we need to work out on Sunday. | |
