This site is not healthy. Sure, we're still getting a stream of new users, but that stream is dwindling. We may tote this as the best on the net, and sure, there's several active users who are prolific posters and very knowledgeable. These people are usually correct about the right cause and solution for problems.
But what problems?
Look at the site activity in recent months, and look at the number of help requests. Check us out on Alexa.com. No matter which way you cut it, this site is going downhill. For many users, who want a prompt response for their problems, this site is no longer the best. On the one other site I frequent (which I shall not name), there is usually a decent response within minutes, not hours (or even days) as on this site. (It's not QJ, NB.)
Stripped of its members with only a few clutching on, this site is dying. TBH, I don't know what happened; this used to be one of the major PSP websites. I suppose once one member left, another did, and more followed. It's sad, but we have to face the facts; without one of this site's core purposes - to help people with PSP-related issues - we are nothing. That is also why we're so off-topic recently; without newbies to help, we post elsewhere, which gives newbies the first impression that we're just an off-topic forum with an interest in PSPs, which reduces the newbies still further. It's a vicious cycle.
But this site can't stay on life support forever.
And so, it is with great sadness that I must annouce my departure of this community. Not right now, though; I'll still be here, just not as much. I'm also dropping the name 'dorkdork777' - it was originally a dare from my brother, as a name for my RuneScape account, and the name stuck. I've also got a few stupid, immature deeds down to that name, which is another reason for me dropping it; as well as the fact it's terrible in conversation. ("Hey, what's your Xbox Live ID again?") And for all those reasons, dorkdork777 will be dead in a few months. Also, I'll still be active on my personal email address and websites I don't use dorkdork777 on (like facebook).
BTW, I won't be making a new account on this site; I'll be dorkdork777 until I leave.
If you really want to know my new username, then contact me and I'll consider it. But as I really want a new beginning on the whole internet, don't be offended if I refuse.
That must be a record; I went off topic even in one single post. But anyway; discuss.

I have been in denial about this but the site isn't what it used to be. We did do better than some of the other 3D sites though. I do know for a fact Robert will not let this site die. He said so himself and he wants to return it to it's former glory somehow. I would love the site to be the way it was before. I'm not going anywhere though. As long as PSP3D exists I will be here. Without this site I'd be really bored.
As for you leaving I see there is no way to change your mind even though you're not leaving right now. I do understand you're reason for abandoning that name. the jsf name has some stuff on it as well due to AIM as some old enemies and old girlfriends of mine I tried to make pay for what they did to me but I can't abandon this name because I don't know what else to use online
It is sad to see you go but I guess it has to be done
There has to be some way to bring the site back. To make it the way it was before

Alexa.com, however, is a poor representation of growth. The site is still receiving well over 10,000 unique visits a day based on Google Analytics and Awstats, so it really hasn't dwindled in traffic at all. 70% of traffic comes from search engines, a lot of visitors have most of their questions answered already from previous threads...
I do, however, have a plan to bring this site back up the ranks. You want explosive growth? I'll give it to ya! Just give me a few days here... like JSF said, I never give up. And trust me, we'll have a ton of active members shortly, but I will need a little help. |

I love how when something like this happens old members that haven't been around for awhile have a habit of showing up. (that was NOT sarcasm. It may have sounded like it but it wasn't)

He always have a well educated answer for everything, as do you. Dorkdork777, I would love to keep in contact with you. You are one of the few people that I consider, the man. As for you name, at least people don't mistake it for Dairy Queen or drag queen, my name stands for Dragon Quest by the way. And to answer your question about what happened: I honestly don't know either. It's like one day I logged onto the site and every one was gone.
As for you Robert, you know I always got you back. |

It's not entirely this site; it's just the PSP scene isn't really (IMO) what it used to be. Where's the amazingly risky downgraders, that get the adrenaline pumping for risk of losing a PSP that can not be unbricked? CFWs have been made and are now a staple; I remember when they came out. The PSP scene has got too advanced; there's not enough breakthroughs left to be made. At least for an old-timer like me, anyway.
That said, while I'm here I'll definitely be supporting this site. So, my homepage has been changed to Rob's suggestion.
Also, thanks to everyone for their kind words - they're really appreciated, and really make a gal feel loved... I did tell you about that, right?
Lol, j/k. Anyway, thanks a lot; this really is the most friendly community on the net, bar none.
P.S. Thanks Rob for your suggestion, but I know that if 'dorkdork777' suddenly stopped coming and a new moderator with exactly the same number of posts and the same style of writing popped in, people would make that link immediately. I'm going for a new beginning on the interblag, so thanks for your offer, but I'm going to have to turn it down.
P.P.S. Not sure what 'interblag' is? You're obviously not an XKCD fan.
P.P.P.S. I lost my ancient 1GB stick yesterday, and you all know how small they are and how easy to lose. So, I invested a massive £21 in a new 4GB one. Heck, I remember when they were five times that much... | |
