This is not a hacking, per say. First off, the origins of the DDoS were from Saudi Arabia, so I'm pretty sure they were paid hackers (as only 1% of our visitors are Saudi Arabian). Next off, a large scale hacking like this would take weeks, if not, months to plan, and coordinate thousands of 'zombie' PCs to ping a website. And finally, there IS a way to prevent these, but then again, there are ways to get around the preventions. Since the dedicated server is non-colocating, I'm going to have to deal with it myself. As far as vBulletin security goes, server security, etc, nothing is being touched. A DDoS is purely a server crasher, the server gets pinged so much that it gets confused, memory overflows, and it crashes. Oh well.
